VIRGINIA – While Winsome Earle-Sears survived the filing deadline and became the GOP nominee for governor, all the reasons she encountered primary challengers like her flailing campaign and failure to unite the party are still present and even more apparent.
“The GOP primary confirmed that Winsome Earle-Sears is a weak candidate with a flailing campaign and an inability to unite the Republican Party. While Virginians deserve a governor who fights for the Commonwealth, Sears is only focused on attacking Virginia jobs and workers, defunding public schools, and ripping away reproductive rights, ” said DPVA Spokesperson Maggie Amjad.
GOP Greatest Hits Against Winsome Earle-Sears:
- Amanda Chase said her phone was “blowing up” with Virginians asking her to run against Sears and repeatedly pointed to issues with the “presumed Republican nominee’s” campaign having “significant issues.”
- Dave LaRock called Sears “unelectable,” slamming Sears for being unable to unite the Virginia GOP and having no track record to run on, and if that wasn’t tough enough for Sears, LaRock then repeated the same attacks again and again.
- LaRock also called Sears “extremely divisive,” accused her of having an inability to unite the base because she is “a talker, not a doer,” and suggested he thinks Sears has “already given up” on winning the general election.
- Former two-term Virginia GOP Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling blasted Sears’ campaign, writing on social media that she “is not a strong statewide candidate.”
- Former Virginia Trump Campaign Chair John Fredericks blasted Winsome Earle-Sears and her campaign for governor saying she has “a lot of issues with MAGA” and she is “not the strongest candidate … by any means.”
