RICHMOND, VA – The Democratic Party of Virginia and the SD-09 Nominating Committee today announced that they have received the timely and complete candidate filing materials for the firehouse primary to be held on February 26, 2023 from the following individuals:
- Dawn Marie Adams
- Alexsis E. Rodgers
- Lamont Bagby
In order to qualify to appear on the ballot in this firehouse primary, candidates must have submitted a $2,500 filing fee and signatures from 50 registered voters in the 9th State Senate District, along with a copy of the candidate’s Certificate of Candidate Qualification and Statement of Economic Interest, per the Call to Caucus. Candidates’ names will appear on Sunday’s ballot, and are listed above, in the order in which their filing materials were received.
Polls will be open from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, February 26, 2023. Democratic voters registered in Virginia’s fourth congressional district can cast their ballot at any of the four polling locations.
The winner of the firehouse primary will be the Democratic nominee for the special election to fill the unexpired Senate term of Congresswoman-elect Jennifer McClellan, to be held on March 28, 2023.
