Richmond, VA – During yesterday’s debate between Rep. Elaine Luria and Jen Kiggans, Kiggans’ wouldn’t answer the question if Joe Biden fairly won the 2020 election. After the debate during a press gaggle, Kiggans was asked twice if Joe Biden fairly won the election – which Kiggans ignored. Then when asked AGAIN, Jen Kiggans abruptly ended the press gaggle and ran away.
What Virginians Are Seeing:
After the debate against her opponent Rep. Elaine Luria (D) on Wednesday, state Sen. Jen Kiggans (R) did not answer multiple questions from tv reporters asking if she believes Joe Biden fairly won the presidential election.
In the past, Kiggans has acknowledged that Biden resides in the White House.
However, when Wavy News shouted the question at Kiggans after the debate was complete on Wednesday, she criticized the rhetoric instead of simply stating that Biden fairly won the election.
“Lot of extreme words that have been used in this campaign. Again, I think that’s what’s wrong with politics. We talked about that in the beginning, and the division, and the negative rhetoric. And that’s why I ran for office. I hate that stuff,” Kiggans said.
She was then pressed again by a reporter to answer the question but she did not give a response.
But the back-and-forth over election rhetoric seemed to cause the biggest stir, and both candidates were asked about it as they spoke with reporters afterward.
Kiggans did not answer shouted questions from reporters about whether she feels Biden won the election, but she again characterized Luria’s comment as a low point in the debate.
“Luria called Kiggans “an election denier” who is “not fit to serve” because she has repeatedly refused to say plainly that President Joe Biden legitimately won the 2020 election. Kiggans has answered questions on the topic — including during an interview with The Associated Press — by simply acknowledging Biden resides in the White House; she declined to answer questions about the 2020 election in a brief exchange with reporters after the debate.”
