Richmond, VA – State Senator Amanda Chase announced last night that she plans to introduce the Life Begins at Conception bill in the 2023 legislative session — mirroring U.S. Rep. Bob Good’s (R-VA-05) federal legislation that would institute a total ban on abortion with no exceptions and certain contraceptives – a bill that Yesli Vega pledged to cosponsor if elected to Congress.
Chase doubled down on her support for Vega in a Facebook post on Monday afternoon:
The Life at Conception Act State Senator Amanda Chase plans to introduce mirrors legislation that Yesli Vega promised to support and cosponsor if elected to Congress — according to a recent report from NBC4 Washington.
After earning the endorsement from the National Pro-Life Alliance earlier this year, Yesli Vega told her supporters in a fundraising email that she answered the survey “100% in support of life.”
The survey asks candidates if they would support and cosponsors the Life at Conception Act – a bill introduced in May 2021 that would outlaw all abortions with no exceptions. In the survey, Vega agrees to support the Life at Conception Act, which defines life at the moment of conception – thereby banning a woman’s right to choose to have an abortion even in cases where her life is threatened.
“Yesli Vega and Amanda Chase want a total ban on abortion with no exceptions here in Virginia,” said DPVA Spokesperson Gianni Snidle. “Their willingness to rip away women’s reproductive rights is a direct threat to all Virginia families — and Virginians will remember at the ballot box.”
